Valdez Epiphany church has been in existence since 1900. The original church was built in Old Town Valdez, which was destroyed in 1964 by a magnitude 9.2 earthquake. After the 1964 earthquake, a new church was built at the new Valdez townsite.
Our church has always been an Episcopal Church, and over the years other denominations such as American Baptist, Disciples of Christ, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran congregations have met here for services as well. In 1978 the church became Episcopal and Lutheran, far in advance of the recent agreements between the two national churches.
Today, Epiphany welcomes all who are on a spiritual journey and we follow the Episcopal and Lutheran traditions. We provide support and a warm, inviting place to worship. Epiphany remains an active presence in the community with ties to the local BoyScouts, Advocates for Victims of Violence and the Valdez Food Bank.
Epiphany Lutheran Episcopal Church is a member of both the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and The Episcopal Church.
